History

In 1991, when Uniroyal announced it would be closing its doors at the Eau Claire location, Tom Larson volunteered for an early layoff so that he could start an electrical contracting business.  After much discussion, some obvious suggestions (which were already taken), and some pretty silly suggestions from his kids, Tom settled on naming the company Bear Valley Electric.  Tom got the idea from a long gone country school house which also lends it name to a back country road which is not far from Tom’s home.  So, with just $600, a company name, and a little red Chevette, Tom started taking whatever work he could manage.

Over the years, with a focus on customer service, craftsmanship, and a willingness to invest in the education and equipment, Bear Valley Electric has grown from a one man shop to a company which employs over a dozen employees.

In 2009, after almost 18 years, Bear Valley Electric moved out of Tom’s home to its current location at 1728 Indianhead Drive, in Menomonie, WI.  Based in Menomonie’s East Industrial Park, Bear Valley Electric can better serve its customers.  Our new location is now less than five minutes from I-94, state highways 25 and 29.  Bear Valley Electric crews have easy and quicker access to the surrounding communities, most of which are less than 20 minutes away.

Tom’s son, John Larson purchased Bear Valley Electric and continues to run the family owned business with a focus on superior customer service and exceptional workmanship to their customers for a fair and competitive price.
